Weekly Note From The Pastor

Friday – November 14, 2008

Greetings from the Church office.  It is Friday at about noon.  The sun is shining and I am smiling.  Milo and Dorothy  are outside doing some weeding in along the front of the church.  I have finished my sermon for Sunday.  One of the things I need to do this afternoon is go to St.Vincent Hospital to visit Cozy   She was to have brain surgery yesterday.  But just the day before the surgery they discovered that she also had cancer in her lungs.  They decided not to do the surgery.  She will be returning home with the bleak news that she has only a few months to live.  Be praying for her!

The sermon for Sunday is talking about how God the Father has given Jesus all authority over everything on earth and all authority over us humans.  The Scripture to read is Revelation 5.  Read the whole chapter.  This is a scene where Jesus steps forward and is given great honor and worship.  He is worthy to open the seals that deal with humans and earth.  He has purchased our salvation by his blood!  It is a rousing section of Scripture.

I came across a nice poem by Fanny Crosby.  It became a Hymn and the name of the Hymn is “My Savior First Of All”.

“When my life work is ended, and I cross the swelling tide,

When the bright and glorious morning I shall see,

I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side,

And His smile will be the first to welcome me.

Thru the gates of the city in a robe of spotless white,

He will lead me where no tears will ever fall;

In the glad song of ages I shall mingle with delight,

But I long to meet my Savior first of all.”

Have a very good day.
